Steam and Strawberry
Steam curls up from the jade-green cup,
A whisper of spring in the morning light.
The matcha foam stays soft and sweet,
While strawberries blush in a pink delight.
I breathe in grass and gentle heat,
A quiet calm that the day can't steal,
And every sip tastes of garden rain,
With berries bright beside the meal.
Bitter and Sweet
The whisk moves green through ceramic bowls,
A grassy bitterness, slow and deep,
That rises like a hush of morning rain.
Then comes the strawberry, red as a promise,
Its juice bleeding softly into the foam,
Taming the edges the way a kind word
Softens an old and stubborn ache.
Sip, and the first taste stings with green,
The second blooms with honeyed red,
And somewhere between the two
The tongue forgets which one it came for.
Crimson in Emerald
Crimson berries sink through emerald clouds,
like rubies dropped in a whisked green sea,
the milk-foam drifting, soft as a sigh,
while sweetness blooms where bitterness used to be.
Each bite unfolds a quiet, grassy hush,
then red-sweet notes ring bright against the tongue,
an ancient tea and a fleeting fruit
meet halfway, the way old friends are young.
