Squeak on the Fairway
He lines up his putt with a practiced stance, But every step he takes will squeak and dance: Squeak, squeak, across the emerald green, The caddie winces at each noisy sheen. The ball rolls true, but the crowd looks askance, As squeak, squeak, echoes through the grass's expanse. The caddie sighs and holds the flag up high, Wishing the sound would simply pass them by.
Squeak Across the Trap
The golfer steps with worn-out shoes, Each stride a whisper, soft and loose. The sand gives way, the cleats complain, A squeak that sounds like sun and rain. He bends to read the grassy line, The old leather murmurs, "Keep in time." And every step across the trap Lets slip a secret, neat and snap. The crowd leans in to hear the tale, Of swing and sand and breeze's gale, But only shoes can truly tell The quiet thing the old men spell.
Squeak on the Fairway
He strides up to the first tee bold, His spikes a-squeaking, shiny and gold. His partners grin behind their caps, As every step gives off the same small snap. The ball flies true, the crowd gives cheer, But the squeaking shoes still reach the ear. On every green he tiptoes near the hole, Each creak a note that makes his partners roll. So here's to the golfer, loud and proud, Whose shoes sing out above the crowd. For though the swing may stray or bend, His squeak will keep the laughter going to the end.
