Broomstick Across the Moon
Beneath the silver, swollen glow, A shadow streaks where the cold winds blow, A witch's broom in midnight flight, Sweeps the moon's pale face clean of light. The owls fall silent, the cats arch high, As stars scatter like dust across the sky, And every pumpkin on the hill Grins wider at her wild, sweeping will. So lock your doors and hush your breath, For Halloween wears the moon like death, And if you glance up through the haze, You'll glimpse her broom in the sweeping blaze.
Midnight Windows
Beneath the full moon's silver glow, Across the sleeping, shadowed town, A candle flickers, soft and low, And dances as the clock strikes down. Each windowpane becomes a stage Where ghostly figures softly sway, The flames perform their wavering rage, While witches whisper, "Come and stay." The jack-o'-lanterns, grinning wide, Keep watch beside each doorway's frame, As leaves of gold and crimson glide And carry echoes of the name Of all the souls who linger near In that eternal, hollow hour, When candlelight is all they hear And moonlit dreams hold sway and power.
Fog Over the Graves
Beneath the full moon's pale, unblinking eye, the ghostly fog slips through the iron gate, it coils around the headstones, soft and high, and hushes every whisper, every weight. The yew trees bow as if in mournful prayer, while crows keep silent watch on crooked stone, and every shadow drifts with lingering care, as though the dead have left their sleep alone. On Halloween, the veil is thin and fraying, the moonlight spills like silver on the ground, and something stirs where mist and mourners straying meet in the hush of breath without a sound.
