Why, Why, Why?
She asks the moon why it hides by day, And why the rain won't stay to play. She asks the ants where their roads all lead, And why the clouds drift overhead. She asks the stars who lit their light, And whether dreams are made of night. She asks the river where it's bound, And who first taught the trees to sound. Her mother smiles and says, "Hush, dear," But questions bloom from ear to ear. For every answer that she's shown, A hundred seeds are fully sown. So keep that wonder burning bright, You clever girl who asks "Why? Why? Why?"
Lit from Within
She walks in quiet, notebook tight, but questions bloom from morning light. Her hand goes up, her answer true, and suddenly the room sees through the dullest hour, the grayest day, to something bright that finds its way. She reads the lines the others skim, she traces patterns, makes them swim. The chalk grows still, the clock ticks slow, as ideas catch and softly glow. So let the windows fall aside, and let her mind be open wide. For when a curious spark takes flight, the whole room learns to shine that night.
Lessons in Every Stumble
She tripped on the stair and rose with a grin, Found wisdom in the bruise beneath her skin. A wrong turn led her down a road unknown, And there she learned the paths she'd never shown. The burnt dish taught her heat must be kept low, The failed test taught her where her focus should go. Each crooked step became a steady guide, Each doubt a door she learned to walk inside. She never fears the falls or the lost way, For every error holds a light of its own day. So she gathers mistakes like pearls on a thread, And grows a little wiser with each word she said.
