Brushstrokes Underfoot
Each step I take begins to paint,
A stroke of gold, a streak of rain,
The gallery hums in gentle hues,
And every pathway shifts its frame.
I wander past the canvas glow,
Where crimson sighs and azure sings,
My footsteps leave a trailing line
That blends the colors of its wings.
The marble floor becomes a sea,
The hallway breathes in ochre light,
And as I move, the scene grows bold,
A living picture, taking flight.
So walk with me through painted days,
Where art and motion softly meet,
Each step a brushstroke on the way,
A journey shaped by beat and beat.
Wandering Home
The painted field unfolds its gold,
A path of light the eye may hold.
Past hedgerows soft with dappled green,
The distant spire, the hills serene,
The gaze drifts slow from bloom to stream,
And finds, at last, a hearth-lit gleam.
So through the canvas, step by step,
The wandering eye comes softly home, and kept.
Stilled Breath
Within the gilded frame, the morning waits,
A sunlit field held still in painted air,
No wind disturbs the wheat, no bird awakes,
And every shadow lingers, bare and fair.
I pause before the canvas, step by step,
As though the hours had let their hands go slack,
And time, that restless wanderer, has kept
A promise to the brush, and turned back.
Here is the laughter caught before it falls,
The lifted glass, the tilted head, the glance,
Preserved in ochre, cobalt, and in walls
Of varnish, guarding every fleeting chance.
So let me walk this gallery of stills,
A guest among the moments, sure and slow,
For frames are simply hearts that learned the skill
Of holding what the restless rivers flow.
