Golden Procession
Each morning, the leaves come down, Tumbling gold across the town, They skip along the school path bright, A ribbon of amber in the light. The wind goes whistling, quick and free, And sweeps the children, two by three, We crunch and rustle, step by step, A dancing crowd without a rest. The maple spins a spiral gleam, The oak lets go its russet dream, And when the bell rings out its call, The golden leaves still dance for all.
Crunch and Swirl
Crunchy leaves swirl beneath eager sneakers, rusty gold and crimson, dancing down the lane. We kick them high and laugh as they flutter, then scatter off to school in a jumbled, merry train. Each step a rustle, each puddle a mirror, the morning air tingling sharp and clear. We race the wind to the schoolyard gate, leaving bright trails of autumn behind us here.
Before the Bell
The morning yawns with frost and gold, The path is stitched with leaves of rust, And sweepers bend, both brave and bold, To gather them before the bell's last trust. Their brooms sing soft against the stone, A rhythm stitched in whispered sound, Each pile a hill, each heap a throne, Until the walkway lies unbound. The children hurry, satchels bright, Their footsteps crisp on paths made clean, And leaves that danced in autumn light Now rest in bins, a quiet scene. So here's to hands that clear the way, And make the school a place to greet, Before the bell begins its day, With paths swept clean for little feet.
