Tonight Belongs to Us
The window dims, the candles sigh,
The city hums its lullaby.
I hold your hand and watch the stars,
And count the dreams behind their scars.
The morning waits beyond the door,
With busy hours and streets once more,
But here, the world can stand aside,
For you and I still have the night.
So let the clock forget its song,
Let every minute linger long.
I'll kiss you softly, close your eyes,
And tuck the day in gentle skies.
Good night, my love, the hours are ours,
The dawn can wait behind the flowers.
Goodnight, Softly
The lamplight dims, the day lets go,
and quiet settles, soft and slow.
I press a kiss against the dark,
a promise carried, small and stark.
Your breathing slows, the pillows sigh,
and dreams come drifting, passing by.
They wrap you warm in silver thread,
while I stand watch above your bed.
Sleep gently now, my heart, my own,
the night is kind, the world is known.
And when the morning light returns,
my first sweet thought is one that burns.
The Last Kiss Before Stars
The sun slips low, its gold grown thin,
and dusk pulls blankets over the day.
I lean to you where the lamplight hums,
and whisper softly, "Stay."
Your lips find mine like a closing door
that opens onto quiet night,
a single kiss, unhurried, warm,
to hold the evening right.
Above us, one by one, the stars
lift up their patient eyes,
but I am watching only you,
the only sky I prize.
So here, one last kiss before the dark,
soft as the first thought of a dream.
Good night, my love, the sky is ours,
and so is every gleam.
