The Weight of Steel
A helmet rests upon the brow, A heavy crown, the solemn vow. Forged in fire, a soldier's plight, To bear the weight of endless night. In trenches deep where shadows creep, Where dreams lie still and sorrow weeps, Each heartbeat echoes, each breath a prayer, Freedom’s cost is found in despair. Yet in the silence, spirits rise, A glimmering hope 'neath leaden skies. For even amidst the blood and bone, A flicker of light calls us home.
Tears on Paper
Beneath the stars, so far from home, A soldier writes with heart of stone. Ink smudged with tears, the paper weeps, Of love and longing, the silence creeps. Each word a bullet, each line a plea, For a world that once was, for the boy in me. The trenches echo with memories lost, Yet in these letters, I count the cost. I send you whispers on trembling sheets, The dawn of battle, where courage meets. Forgive my silence, the nights grow cold, In ink and valor, our stories unfold.
