The Weary March
Amidst the shadows, a warrior strides,
Armor creaks with each weary step,
Once bold and fierce, now the spirit hides,
In the echoes of battles lost, where dreams wept.
A shield dulled by the sun’s harsh gaze,
A sword that once gleamed, now rusted and worn,
Through fields of glory, in a darkened haze,
The weight of valor leaves the heart torn.
With every footfall, a story unfolds,
Of friendships forged and betrayals deep,
In the silence of night, as twilight beholds,
The tired soul finds solace in sleep.
Though fate has twisted this gallant fate,
The warrior whispers to the stars above,
In each creak and sigh, a strength to relate,
For even the weary can rise with love.
Beneath the Old Oak
Beneath the old oak's sprawling shade,
A weary warrior seeks to fade,
With armor scratched and spirit worn,
He dreams of peace where hearts are warm.
The battles fought, the foes laid low,
Yet here he rests, the world a glow,
In whispered leaves, nostalgia hums,
For distant shores where laughter thrums.
His eyes, once fierce, now softly gleam,
Reflecting hopes of an absent dream,
To feel the sun on fields of grain,
To dance again, to love, to gain.
But still the shadows cloak his sight,
In every rustle, the ghosts take flight,
Yet here he sighs, 'neath branches wide,
A tired heart, yet full of pride.
Echoes in the Field
In fields once bright, where laughter rang,
A warrior stood, with heart now sang,
Tired of battles, of shadows and nights,
He heard the echoes of forgotten lights.
Each step a memory, each breath a sigh,
The sun sets low as the day waves goodbye,
But in the whispers of the breeze that sways,
He finds the warmth of those joyful days.
The laughter lingers amidst grains of gold,
In every rustling leaf, a story told,
Yet, from the silence, his spirit will rise,
Through the echoes of joy, the warrior flies.
