Whispers of the Night
Soft paws tread lightly on fallen leaves,
In moonlit woods where shadows gently weave.
A rustle here, a fleeting, fleeting glance,
The possum dances in a twilit trance.
With velvet coat and gentle, knowing eyes,
It roams the earth beneath the starry skies.
In quiet grace it prowls, a ghostly sight,
Embracing all the secrets of the night.
Each leaf a whisper, every step a song,
Nature’s symphony, where it belongs.
In twilight’s arms, it finds its tender home,
Through branches soft, in shadows it will roam.
So let us listen to the tales they tell,
Of quiet wanderers who know it well.
The Possum's Vigil
In twilight's shroud, the world holds its breath,
A guardian waits in the cloak of the night,
With eyes like lanterns, they defy their death,
Carving shadows, they dance in pale silver light.
Upon the ledge, they perch, quiet and wise,
Each rustle a whisper, each glance a decree,
Beneath the soft weight of a starlit disguise,
The possum holds secrets we seldom can see.
They wander through silence where moonbeams caress,
With nimble intent, a delicate tread,
In quest of the night’s rich and dark wilderness,
While dreams drift as gently as leaves overhead.
So, when you walk under the veil of the night,
Remember the possum, the sentinel bright.
The Fruit of Night
In shadows soft where whispered secrets dwell,
A possum roams 'neath stars that brightly gleam.
With nimble grace, it dances through the spell,
Of moonlit vines, where gentle dreams may stream.
With curious eyes, it nibbles at delight,
The fruits of night—each berry plump and sweet.
A feast reserved for creatures of the night,
In quiet bounty, they find joy's retreat.
The world asleep, yet life begins anew,
As nature's rhythms play their soft refrain.
This little soul with heart so pure and true,
Unfurls its treasures 'neath the silver rain.
So let the darkness cradle joy and cheer,
For possums dance, and life is ever near.
