Golden Horizons
In Kansas where the wide fields sway,
Beneath the golden sunset's ray,
The amber waves of grain do dance,
In twilight's glow, a spell, a trance.
The sky ablaze, a painter's hand,
Strokes vibrant hues across the land,
As whispers of the evening breeze,
Sway softly through the tall, warm seeds.
Each stalk holds dreams of harvests past,
Stories woven, shadows cast,
In this vast canvas, wild and free,
The heart finds peace, the soul's decree.
O, Kansas fields, your beauty vast,
A realm where time stands still, holds fast,
In every sunset's fleeting glow,
A promise shared with those who know.
Whispers from the Barn
In fields where golden sunflowers sway,
Old barns stand watch, in faded array.
With weathered wood and rusted tin,
They cradle the tales of where we’ve been.
Each beam holds secrets, the laughter, the tears,
The ghosts of the past that echo through years.
As doors creak open, they sing out their lore,
Of lovers who danced on the creaky old floor.
With haylofts for dreams and shadows for friends,
They remember the days when the hard work pretends.
From morning till twilight, their stories unfold,
Of peace that was forged in the heart of the old.
So here’s to the barns, with their storied embrace,
They anchor our hearts, give the past a warm space.
In Kansas's arms, beneath wide open skies,
The old barns remain, where the memory lies.
