Upon these timeworn steps I tread,
Where whispers of the past are spread.
Each creak and groan, a voice long lost,
In memories’ embrace, I count the cost.
The walls, they guard with steadfast grace,
A tapestry of time, a storied place.
Brick and stone, with weathered face,
Reveal the tales of love, of grace.
Beneath the archways, shadows dwell,
Of laughter, sorrow, secrets to tell.
With every footfall, history’s song,
Echoes of yesteryear, forever strong.
Whispers of Twilight
As twilight drapes its velvet veil,
The ancient walls begin to exhale,
In shadows deep, the echoes play,
Of gatherings held at the close of day.
Stone and mortar, worn yet proud,
Hold secrets whispered, once spoken loud.
Ghosts of laughter swirl in the air,
In every corner, a memory’s flare.
The chandeliers dim, their light softly glows,
Illuminating tales only twilight knows.
Voices of lovers, of triumphs and fears,
Float through the silence, the passage of years.
In this hallowed hall, where time holds its breath,
The past dances lightly, embracing its death,
Through each crumbling arch, each weathered beam,
Historic shadows weave a timeless dream.

From cracks in the pavement, a poppy will rise,
Their vibrant whispers beneath the grey skies.
Each color a tale, each fragrance a song,
In the heart of the ruins, the gardens belong.
So pause and behold what history holds,
In the hush of the echoes, a beauty unfolds.
For even in silence, when all else seems dead,
The spirit of nature shall always be fed.
