The Cabaret of Streets
Under the pulse of streetlight glow,
A symphony plays where the taxis flow.
Horns blare a tune, sarcastic and bright,
In this bustling ballet, the city's delight.
Yellow chariots racing, weaving through night,
Passengers whispering dreams out of sight.
With every screech, a sonnet is penned,
In the chaos, the melodies blend.
From the corner of Night to the dawn's early breath,
Each honk like a verse, dancing close to death.
Yet in this raucous, orchestrated mess,
Lies a rhythm of life—urban's bold caress.
Fare Adjustment Fables
In the heart of the city, cabs hustle and flow,
With a flick of a meter, the fares start to grow.
A cabbie's sly grin, as he gives it a twist,
"Oh, you wanted a bargain? That's too bad, missed!"
Through the rush and the honks, like a dance on the street,
He dodges the traffic, with speed and with heat.
"Five bucks for a ride? That’s a laugh, dear friend,
In my cab, it’s a journey with prices to bend."
A sneer in the mirror, his laughter is bright,
"Did you think it was cheap to escape this wild night?
You’ll pay for my charm, and a story or two,
In this yellow chariot, where dreams are askew."
So buckle your seatbelt, hold tight to your cash,
In the city that never sleeps, oh, it goes by in a flash.
With sarcasm spun in each winding lane,
In the cab of the city, all fares bear the strain.
Taxi Tales
In a yellow chariot, they cling to their maps,
With wide-open eyes, and occasional laps,
They point to the sky, for a rooftop bar,
While the driver just sighs, 'Couldn’t take you far.'
Close by the bodega, they stop for a snack,
Confused by the hustle, they stumble off track,
'Is that the Empire?' one tourist does ask,
While the driver rolls eyes, fulfilling his task.
They wander in circles, as time ticks away,
Each missed subway stop is a price they will pay,
With a shrug and a grin, he offers a smile,
In the city that never sleeps, guess they’ll stay awhile.
