Puppets of Dissent
In the land where banners wave,
And promises are lightly engraved,
A nation torn, in shadows cast,
With puppet strings that bind the vast.
The leaders dance on stages grand,
With hollow hearts and empty hands,
While voices echo, lost in space,
As dreams dissolve, like whispered grace.
A tug of war, a grand charade,
Where truth and lies begin to fade,
Divided we stand, a fickle core,
Applauding lies, and yearning for more.
With marionettes in tailored suits,
They spin their tales of righteous loot,
Yet in the dark, we seek a spark,
To break the chains, ignite the dark.
So rise, oh voices, let’s unite,
End this play, reclaim the night,
For in our hearts, the truth does sing,
A brighter dawn on freedom's wing.
Voting Booth Blues
In a booth so small, the choices loom,
A flickering fate in a crowded room.
Papers rustle, a pencil grieves,
Casting away hope, while despair weaves.
Promises draped in a glistening sheen,
Whispers of change, just smoke in between.
Democracy dances on razor-thin lines,
Where visions are blurred and truth inclines.
Once a bright beacon, now shadows it casts,
As dreams trickle down through moments that pass.
Yet still, we stand, with a flicker of fire,
For hope, like a phoenix, will always aspire.
The Great Illusion
In grand debates where voices clash,
Promises shine, bright as a flash.
Vote for change, a rallying cry,
Yet, whispers of shadows never say why.
The hopeful stand in lines so long,
With banners bold, they sing their song.
But when the ballots softly drift,
The gears keep turning, the scripts don’t shift.
With painted smiles and polished suits,
They weave their tales, disseminate the roots.
Each ‘yes’ and ‘no’ an intricate dance,
Yet in their eyes, there’s no real chance.
So raise your voices, cast your dreams,
In the limelight where nothing redeems.
For in this circus, a perfect stage,
We clap for progress, yet still, we gauge.
