Held Back by Earthen Walls
In whispers deep, the river dreams, Beneath the sky, where sunlight beams. Its pulse a rhythm, fierce and grand, Yet held by walls of earthen hand. A dragon’s breath, it swells and sighs, In slime and mud, its spirit lies. The willows weep, their roots confined, While dragonflies in gold unwind. Nature’s heart beats slow but strong, Yearning for freedom, it hums a song. Yet here it waits, with silent calls, Caged by the strength of earthen walls.
Whispers Beneath the Levee
Beneath the levee's sturdy crest, Water whispers, secrets pressed, Lapping gently at earthen walls, Echoes of time in the river's calls. Liquid laughter, a soft embrace, Tales of journeys, of life and grace, It hums of storms and sunny days, Of fleeting moments, winding ways. Within the shadows, dreams reside, In currents wild, where hopes abide, With every pulse, the levee sighs, A sentinel of the river's cries.
Levee's Embrace
Golden hues drape the evening sky, As day gives way to night’s soft sigh. Orange and pink, in splendor, blend, Upon the levee, where waters wend. A barrier strong, yet delicate too, Cradling the river, a protective view. Each sunset spills its vibrant grace, Painting the horizon, a warm embrace. The whispers of evening, in colors confined, Hold secrets of nature, a fleeting reminder. As shadows lengthen, and dusk draws near, A beautiful promise, for those who revere.
