The Cost of Victory
In halls of triumph, they parade,
With trophies bright, their masks displayed,
Yet hearts entwined in shadows steep,
For every win, a soul to weep.
The dice may roll in fervor's chase,
The cards align, a fleeting grace,
But in the night, when echoes fade,
The price of greed begins to jade.
For life's rich game, with stakes unfurled,
Cannot be won in a gilded world,
As laughter dims and dreamers sigh,
The greedy lose, though players vie.
Echoes of Envy
Whispers of envy weave through the night,
Empty hearts clamor for unearned light.
In shadows they gather, with lustrous eyes,
Chasing horizons that tease from the skies.
With every stolen glance, hope turns to frost,
Souls adrift in the currents of what they have lost.
Greedy hands reach for what they can't claim,
Their laughter a mask for the flickering flame.
Yet deep in their chests, a stillness remains,
A longing for more, wrapped in silken chains.
For the whispers of envy, like ghosts on the air,
Reveal just how deeply they ache and they care.
